APRIL 22~ MAY 9, 2012   Here's a really exciting trip!
Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) @ Jekyll Island with Tex Wyndham conducting a session on Ragtime, Dixieland Jazz, Tin Pan Alley & some lively entertainment. We also will be treated to a tour of the Jekyll Island Club & a discussion & outdoor exploration of the Coastal Environment of the area. Then, we depart on a fabulous tour of GEORGIA - spending two days each in Savannah, Macon & Atlanta!!  There is so much to see & do -- we'll do some of it (!) like historic theaters, plantation homes, a cooking school & dinner show, a riverboat cruise -- just to mention a few. Breakfast each morning, deluxe bus transportation on our way to the 'Last Hurrah' = Chattanooga Dixieland Jazz Festival (this will be their LAST (boo-hoo) so you don't want to miss this one!  The band line-up will knock your socks off!

* * * * * * NEW * * * * * * * * * * NEW * * * * * * * * * * NEW * * * * * * * * * * NEW * * * * * * * * MAR. 16-17-18, 2012   SEATTLE JAZZ PARTY    We're having a PARTY!!  & you are invited!!  We all have something to celebrate -- birthday, anniversary, good health (life itself!) ~~ but if nothing more, how about celebrating all the wonderful friends we have made thru Dixieland ~~ & all the wonderful places our love of the music has taken us?  Our great PARTY will take place at the beautiful, renovated Holiday Inn at Seattle Airport.  The ballroom there is on top of the hotel (!) so you will have a fantastic view = during the day of Mt Rainier & in the evening there will be activities filled with lights & the planes taking off & landing.  This will be a bit different, as far as most festivals go. We have suffered many losses of great festivals, mostly due to the costs of a production the size of which may be too large to continue. My Seattle Jazz Party will be on a smaller scale, but will highlight the wonderfully talented musicians that live near enough that airfares & hotel expense will not be necessary  .... that alone will save a tremendous cost, but you will still benefit from the fine music performed & the comaraderie of your Dixieland friends. Now, because the hotels charge room rental for their ballrooms unless there is a guarantee on the number of hotel rooms used -- and/or  a minimum of banquet & catering orders, I will present to you a complete package for the weekend.  This way, you pay only one price for your entertainment. Your package will include two nites at the hotel with shuttle to & from the airport. You will enjoy a full American Breakfast Buffet on two mornings, your jazz admission for music ongoing Fri. from 5:00pm to 11:00pm, Sat. from 11:00am to 11:00pm & on Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  Your complete package will include TWO delicious dinner buffets (which you never get at other festivals, but have to go out & eat & miss the music) & on Sunday we will have birthday cake & ice cream in the afternoon. Remember, it is a PARTY!  Everyone is celebrating something.....  In addition, I will include a few CDs from some of the bands that will be performing -- plus your weekend jazz badge will be a usuable luggage tag! 50/50 SALES TABLE  Bring your jazzy items -- such as jewelry, vests, dresses, hats, shoes, suspenders -- anything you are ready to part with!  This is how it works -- you bring items, clean & in very good condition, marked with your anticipated sales price & your name.  Half will go to you & half will go to help pay some of the operating costs of the PARTY.  You'll get to shop, go home with something new to you & know that you're helping with the success of this event!
